This weekend, I met with one of my bride's for her venue walkthrough and naturally, we started to discuss her wedding day details. As we strolled down the porch of her venue, she said something that made me proud.
"I'd really like to donate my flowers after the wedding to the nursing home that my fiancé's grandfather was in". Her statement was heartfelt, and it was wonderful to see that she wanted to honor the memory of this family member by sharing her wedding flowers with the folks at the nursing home. Many times, couples who are getting married aren't sure what to do with all of their decor after the wedding day, and donating those items are a wonderful way to repurpose them while making someone else's day just a little bit brighter. Flowers aren't the only wedding day leftovers that can be repurposed and donated - many places will also accept leftover meals (so much better than going in the trash at the end of the night, or sitting untouched in your hotel mini-fridge!). Interested in donating your wedding day leftovers? Chat with your florist or wedding planner to see what your options are. If you don't have a personal connection to any particular hospital, nursing home, shelter, etc. these professionals can probably direct you to a local organization that would benefit from them and would probably be willing to help to deliver these items.
