It should come as no surprise that with a background in history, I'm very much rooted in and appreciative of tradition.  One tradition that I would love to see make a comeback is the bridal portrait.

Not only do I think that the bridal portrait is a smart move, it's also something that you'll have to look back on as a memory in the years to come.

As a planner, I'm all about making the client experience as effortless and stress-free as possible, so frankly I feel it's my duty to encourage you to invest in a bridal portrait session.

Consider it practice.
Your bridal portrait session is a trial run of your hair and makeup, bouquet, dress , etc. Can't decide if you want your hair up or down? Do both! Wear it one way for the bridal portrait and another for the wedding day. Realize that it's difficult to hold that big bouquet you were dreaming about? Request something a little different with the florist for the actual wedding.

Be at ease.
The reality is that you'll have butterflies and some nerves or excitement the morning of your wedding day, and of course, you want to look flawless. By scheduling a bridal portrait in advance and having that run through, you'll eliminate some of that extra pressure because you know what the result will look like or you'll know what direction to give your vendor team to make sure you get the desired result.

Get comfortable in front of the camera.
Many couples schedule engagement photo sessions with their photographer, but not all. Scheduling a bridal portrait session allows you to get comfortable not only with your photographer, but with being in front of a camera. You'll get a feel for their work style and they'll get a feel for your level of comfortability which will make the wedding day much easier for them to shoot and for you to relax in front of them. It'll be a "Oh, I've done this before!" sort of feeling vs. "Am I doing this right?".

At the end of the day, you won't regret having a bridal portrait session, and the photographs will be a special memory for years to come. PS. They make excellent gifts for parents!
